IBM Design Internship
During the Summer of 2022, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a design intern in the Client Engineering Team in NYC.
I had three main roles: Facilitator, Consultant, and Designer. As a Facilitator, I set up the logistics and customized materials. I was responsible for running the meetings, ensuring the team stays on track, and keeping a high-level view toward a successful outcome. As a Consultant, I built a relationship with interdisciplinary IBM and client teams to deliver value to the client and create opportunities for IBM. As a Designer, I advocated for the end user's needs and positive user experiences.
I worked cross-functionally on teams with Business Technology Leaders, Technology Engineers, Data Scientists, Information Architects, and Designers.

Projects
During the Summer, I worked on one client-facing project and three internal projects
Client Facing Project:
• Facilitated workshops in Mural for clients and cross-functional teams using Agile and IBM Enterprise Design Thinking methodologies
• Designed and pitched end-to-end interaction flows - Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to clients and internal teams using Figma
Intern Advisory Council | Skills Development Committee:
• Led design thinking and UX/UI design workshops for sales interns across the U.S.
• Created graphics to promote all the intern skills development workshop

Value of Design
Working in cross-functional teams showed me the importance of the team being on the same page.
In order for that to happen, the value of design needs to be understood by everyone. That is why this Summer I took a step forward into promoting design and the benefit of using IBM Enterprise Design Thinking during projects.

Skills Development Committee
During the internship, I was part of the Skills Development Committee. I helped host different workshops for interns to enhance their skills in different topics. I created posters to promote the workshop and helped members to create presentations.
The Design Thinking Workshop was one that I hosted and interns from across the US joined me to learn the value of design thinking.

Frontiers of Customer Care Event
This was a full-day workshop that focused on showing the value of customer care. With the customer, the IBM team co-created a virtual assistant with clients present that day.
During the event, I helped facilitate the conversation and present the solution to a client that focuses on education.
My Experience
I had the opportunity to work with amazing and talented IBMers. For 11 weeks, I shadowed and was mentored by brilliant designers.
I learned so much about IBM Enterprise Design Thinking, the value of working in a cross-functional team, and I learned how to be “comfortable in the uncomfortable”.
